Apple I-Touch: Vay Review

Vay is the one game that I've actually purchased from the Apple App Store during all my time of looking for a good game. If you haven't noticed I'm a bit of a RPG freak so I figured I'd pick up one that is a port from a known system. Vay is a 2D RPG that will have you traveling all over the kingdom, gaining friends, beating up bad guys, and saving the world. You know the very unique storyline.
The graphics are what they were on the Sega CD system, though the battle screens look like they've seen a bit of work. Overall the graphics are not going to blow you away.
The controls get a bit tricky, what I wouldn't give to have a controller in my hand. The tap the screen method can sometimes leave you feeling a bit empty.
The sound leaves you feeling like you are truly playing an older game. Sure there might have been some smoothing in the rhythms and harmonies, but its going to give you a nostalgic feeling in the end.
The overall game is solid, then again it is a port so I wouldn't expect it to be a total miss. Until you've played the game a bit expect to be completely lost when trying to transverse the map. Also don't take time off from the game because you are going to find yourself absolutely lost in what you need to do.
I do like the fact that this game is on the apple device, it gives the developers a chance to keep tweaking the system to get the most out of the experience. I've already seen a good improvement in the menu navigation. I will warn those who buy this game. Once its install on the system, reset your device, otherwise there is a good chance that the game will not run and it will frustrate you. I give this blast from the past a 7.8 out of 10.
