Apple I-Touch: TapDefense

Tap Defense is a game that is going to cause you to lose all track of time. In the same vein of Crystal Defenders, PixelJunk Monster, and Desktop Defender, if you like those then you'll like this one. I have to say that this is a game that pleasantly surprised me.
The sound, well as far as I know, is non-existent, I'm sure I was just dumb and didn't turn on an option somewhere, but at the same time I was able to continue to listen to the podcast I was tuning into while playing, so I really can't complain whatsoever.
The graphics aren't going to impress anyone, but they are sufficient for the platform, and the type of game that it is. All the different towers look unique, and their attacks match what the towers are suppose to be shooting.
The controls are really solid. It's simply based on tapping on the screen, and it feels perfect for the game.
The gameplay is what you'd expect, you're going to have to defend a path from hell to heaven with towers. You can upgrade those towers when you have the money you earn through the level. After a while you can even research new tower types to help slow or kill your enemies. One thing I will point out, at least when playing on easy, you'll be gaining a 5% return on your current gold count for a level successfully completed. I personally got to level 29 before I saw every monster just enter heaven and end my game.
This is one of the few games that I don't think the fact that it is free is the thing that ultimately sells me on the game. Sure the level is repetitive, and the monsters basically just come over and over again, each time a bit tougher, but with the strategy involved, and the fact that time seemed to fly when I was playing I'm going to have to give this game a 9.2 out of 10.
